The death toll has jumped to at least 106 and more than 4,000 people were now affected by the coronavirus. It comes as cases continue to be discovered in countries around the world, including the US, Canada, Australia, France and India. The World Health Organization met earlier and decided it was too early to declare the outbreak as a global emergency.

According to latest reports the virus has also reached to the various states of India. After Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, the coronavirus affected people were now found in Delhi. Medical Superintendent of Ram Manohar Lohiya Hospital Dr. Meenakshi Bharadwaj declared that they have found three cases of coronavirus. They are being treated currently and their samples have been sent for investigation. Although as a precautionary measure, Health Ministry of India has launched a helpline.

 

WHO not declaring it emergency

Chinese authorities reported 106 deaths and over 4000 confirmed cases. According to the sources the virus has spread to at least 11 other countries and regions. Strict biosecurity measures have been put in place in parts of the world. Still the WHO is not ready to declare the coronavirus as an international emergency.

 

Situation in India

  • Recently a 28 year old Mohali boy caught with similar symptoms of Coronavirus, after he came back from China. Currently he has been treated in the isolation ward of PGMIR of Chandigarh.
  • A medical student in Uttar Pradesh also suspected of having affected with it. He is getting treated in Maharajganj district hospital.
  • 29 year old Ekta Kumari is admitted in Patna medical college on Monday morning. She is a Neuro Research scientist in China and doing her PhD from there. Ekta flew back to India on January 22 and caught with high fever.
  • A native of Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh is also caught as a suspect of coronavirus. This boy is a medical student in Wuhan.
  • Another suspect found in Jaipur, Rajasthan. He is getting treated in Savai MaanSingh Hospital. 18 people have recently visited China from Rajasthan. All are under medical observation currently.
  • More than 100 people are suspects to have Coronavirus in Kerala and Maharashtra. All are currently under obersvation.

Extended holiday for China

China’s cabinet announced it will extend the Lunar New Year holidays to Feb. 2, to strengthen the prevention and control of the new coronavirus, state broadcaster CCTV reported early on Monday. The holidays had been due to end on Jan. 30.
