The United Nations-affiliated civil right and humanitarian non-profit organization ‘United Sikhs’ conducted an extensive sanitization activity ahead of Eid on Saturday at Jama Masjid. Eid prayers were offered only by the Imam and a few staff of Jama Masjid, for common people Old Delhi’s Jama Masjid was shut. United Sikhs have been working since 1999 and have chapters in 11 countries.

Parminder Singh, director of United Sikhs said that “All religions are equal for us. It is written in our holy book, Guru Granth Sahib says that we are all god’s creation. We are also sanitising the temples and churches. We have been working for the past 50-60 days.”

Shahi Imam of Delhi’s Jama Masjid, Ahmed Shah Bukhari said “This is the need of the hour in the nation amid the crisis that people take care of each other without any discrimination. Such exercises promote brotherhood between the communities. This is the beauty of our nation that people of different religions come forward to help each other.”

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine in Jammu also delivered a perfect example of humanity and brotherhood. During the holy month of Ramdan, they served around 500 Muslims who were quarantined at the Aashirwad Bhawan as it was transformed into a quarantine centre.
