Amid the coronavirus outbreak, the Facebook main app is launching new tools to help the user for a better experience. Facebook’s new Quiet Mode feature will allow the users to mute the push notifications for a time limit you specify. This feature will minimize distractions during work.
Due to coronavirus pandemic, the nationwide lockdown made the people work from home. The people across the nation of different fields are working from home. Since they are at home they are spending a lot of unnecessary time on social media. Keeping the work from home in mind Facebook came up with the quiet mode feature. This will make a person concentrate on work in the working hours.
The Quiet Mode will allow the users to mute the push notifications for a specific time of their choice. Users can turn Quiet Mode ON and OFF as needed. The company announced this new feature as an update on its COVID Newsroom post. The company described the feature as a way for users to set boundaries around how they spend their time on Facebook. Since people are working from home, it’s new for people to adjust the work at home.
Users can either turn on or off Quiet Mode as needed or can set it to run automatically at given times. For example, if the working hours of an individual are from 9 AM to 5 PM, one can set Quiet Mode to automatically run during the working hours. This will reduce the distraction during working hours. And if you try to open the app the feature will remind you that you have set the time in the Quiet Mode.
The Quiet Mode controls will be found in the new section where you can find the stats of time spent on the app will be given. One can go through the data to know the time spent on the app. Facebook provides daily basis data of daytime versus nighttime of use. Furthermore, Facebook will let you know the data of how many times you opened the app in a day.
Though the “time spent” feature was already present, but the appearance has changed. Facebook has also now added more details, including new week-over-week trends, the time of day charges, and the chart displaying the number of visits.
This section will also show a user the weekly report, in which the data of how one is managing the time on Facebook. This feature will be connected directly to the Activity Log of your profile including your reaction comment and post. Some previous features of news feed, settings, and notification settings will also get active. Currently, the feature is available for iOS devices. The android device will get the update in May.
The update in the apps is focusing on digital well-being. The smartphones were never built concerning the mental health of humans. The digital well-being is all about a healthy mind and body. It pushes forward the idea that people are addicted to smartphones and spending several hours in front of the screen of the smartphone.
The companies are focusing on making the apps dedicated to the digital well-being. The negative and unhealthy environment amid the misinformation made companies go for such updates. Soon some new features will also roll out on Facebook with the time.
