After the first tranche of COVID-19 economic package focusing on MSME sector with much needed economic boosters, in the 2nd tranche Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman focused more on the marginalized sections of the society namely the migrant labourers, farmers, urban poor and lower-middle-income group. Here are the highlights of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Package announced on May 14th.
- Starting with the migrant workers, nearly 8 crore non-ration cardholders to receive 5kg of rice and wheat per person and 1kg chana per family for the next two months.
- Under ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ scheme, 67 crore beneficiaries of ration cards in 23 states can now use their PDS cards in any state in India.
- Technology Systems to be used enabling Migrants to access the Public Distribution System.
- Affordable Rental Housing Complexes (ARHC) for migrant workers/urban poor.
- Rs 1500 crores Interest Subvention for MUDRA-Shishu Loans.
- Rs 5000 crore Special Credit Facility for Street Vendors.
- Rs 70,000 crore boost to the housing sector and middle-income group through the extension of CLSS.
- Rs 6000 crore employment push using CAMPA funds.
- Rs 30,000 crores Additional Emergency Working Capital Funding for farmers through NABARD.
- Rs 2 lakh crore concessional credit boost to 2.5 crore farmers through Kisan Credit Cards.
