In the major development, the Rajasthan government is going to start Indira Rasoi Yojana to ensure that ‘no person sleeps hungry’ (Koi Bhukha Naa Soye) in the state. CM Ashok Gehlot on 22 June 2020 announced that meals twice a day will soon be made available to the poor people at low rates. It is an upgraded version of the previously running Annapurna Rasoi Yojana in Rajasthan. The Chief Minister made an announcement regarding the scheme while launching the COVID-19 awareness programme via virtual conference. CM Gehlot informed that the government will spend 100 crores every year on the scheme.

For the successful implementation of the scheme, the state government will rope in local Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) in every district of the state. While discussing the scheme, CM Gehlot mentioned that the prices of the meals are yet to be finalized; the food for the scheme will be prepared as per the requirements and tastes of every municipal area. He also released audio jingles, five types of posters, and video films. He also flagged off five vans loaded with equipment and publicity material provided by the United Nations Population Fund and the National Health Mission. He further told that food will also be served in a permanent kitchen. There will be a system of sitting in the kitchen for eating food.
