On April 15, CM Pramod Sawant on Tuesday said that no COVID-19 patients are detected in the last 11 days. The entire state can be declared “green zone” by April 17.

The Goa consists of two districts South Goa and North Goa. South Goa is already in a green zone that is no COVID-19 patients are present there, by the Union Health Ministry.

All the seven COVID-19 positive cases in Goa were from North Goa. Out of the seven cases, five patients recovered from the viral infection while two are undergoing treatment. Since April 4 no new coronavirus patient is detected in the state.

CM Sawant said, “South Goa district is already in the green zone which means no COVID-19 patients present in that area, as per the Central guidelines. And if there will be no more detections of COVID-19 patients, then the North District will be declared as a green zone by April 17.

He also said that surveillance at the Goa’s borders ramped up because of neighboring Sindhudurg district in Maharashtra being classified as “Orange Zone” which means few COVID-19 patients are found in past and Belgavi in Karnataka also reporting new coronavirus positive patients.

Maharashtra’s ‘green zones’ industries will get active to start manufacturing by following certain precautionary measures.

RED, ORANGE, GREEN ZONE

Amid coronavirus outbreak, the Centre will categorize the country in the red, orange and green zone. The extended lockdown can provide conditional relaxations to the safe zones.

The relaxation in the lockdown will permit the green zone area some activities in the state. The activities like agriculture, fisheries and animal husbandry will get active. MNREGA work will also get active following social distancing. Goods transport, truck repair shops and dhabas on highways are permitted to function. E-commerce companies and other service providers will get active partially.

Red zone will be the hotspots of coronavirus. There will be no activities resumed in such areas.

Orange zone will allow where only a few cases are found in the past with no increase in the number of positive cases. Minimum activities like opening of limited public transport, harvesting of farm products will be allowed in the orange zone.

After the extension of lockdown, the CM Sawant supported the decision of PM Modi with a tweet which says “Let us follow PM Shri @narendramodi’s 7 pleas to stay a step ahead of #COVID19. 


He also updated the survey done in the state, to ensure the safety from coronavirus.

 

He was also a part of a video conferencing meeting with PM Modi.
