India, the world’s second-most populated nation in the world is observing a rapid increase in coronavirus cases. The COVID-19 cases crossed 1000 in India on Sunday with the death toll surges to 27 while 96 patients have been cured. The government of India is taking all the necessary steps to ensure that we are completely prepared to face the growing pandemic of COVID-19 – the Coronavirus, with the active support of the people of India to a 21-day lockdown decision earlier this week by the Union government.

Social distancing is the only way to break the cycle of infection- PM 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a 21-day nationwide lockdown from midnight Tuesday, explaining that it was the only way left to deal with COVID-19 by breaking the COVID-19 infection cycle. “Social distancing is the only way to break the cycle of infection” he added

PM Modi further said “This is like a curfew, and far stricter than the ‘Janata Curfew’ (on March 22). Seeing the present scenarios, this lockdown will be for 21 days. This is to save India, save each citizen and save your family. Please do not step outside of your house. For 21 days, forget what is stepping outside. There is a Lakshman Rekha on your doorstep. Even one step outside your house will bring the coronavirus inside your house.”

The government clarified that there is no need to panic. All the essential commodities, medicines, etc. will be available. Centre and various state governments will work in close coordination to ensure this.

Global Coronavirus Outbreak

Coronavirus pandemic is affecting 199 countries and territories around the world. Global cases have surpassed 680,000 including more than 30,000 fatalities. Over 145,000 patients are reported to have recovered with Italy seeing the highest casualties. All over the world citizens are advised to avoid non-essential travels and maintain social distancing.

Respecting that spirit, the Prime Ministers Citizen Assistance and Relief In Emergency Situations Fund (PM-CARES Fund) has been constituted. This will go a long way in creating a healthier India. This fund will also cater to similar distressing situations if they occur in times ahead. The PM-CARES Fund accepts micro-donations too.

On Sunday during this time of COVID-19 outbreak PM Modi in his Indian Radio Programme “Mann Ki Baat” said: “Together, India will defeat Covid-19.” He started his speech by explaining the necessity of a 21-day lockdown of the country and apologized for the inconvenience the lockdown may have caused to the people of the country. “Social distance does not mean emotional distance” he further added.

He appreciated the nurses, doctors and para-medical staff and also addressed them as the front line soldiers in the fight against COVID-19.

Several individuals, organizations, communities, and ministry are coming forward to help the needy in this 21-day lockdown and setting an excellent display of compassion towards the needy. They are providing food and daily essentials to the needy without breaking the lockdown. Hygienic meals are prepared and distributed among the needy.

Amid of coronavirus breakdown, the people of India are supporting 21-day Lockdown and spreading awareness regarding the pandemic in their creative way by uploading videos on social media, writing motivational articles, blogs, etc.
