The three-week national lockdown may extend, to control the situation of the COVID-19 pandemic. PM Modi indicated the party leaders in the discussion that the lockdown may have to continue after April 14. PM Modi had a detailed discussion with the party leaders that what way to take as it has got a lot of suggestions to extend the lockdown. The discussion further proceeds on the suggestion to lift the lockdown in phases if needed.
On April 11 PM Modi again called a meeting with the state ministers to discuss the same. The meeting will also discuss suggestions on a ‘staggered exit plan’ from the lockdown. PM Modi earlier asked the ministers to give the suggestions on the same.
There was no plan of government on lifting the entire lockdown in one go, since the beginning. The current situation of coronavirus pandemic is making the government think for the extension of lockdown.
The states which are all set to extend the lockdown
UP government has already sealed the 15 districts till April 15. The count of COVID-19 in the state is increasing at a rapid rate. To prevent the community spread all the coronavirus hotspots are sealed till April 15 by UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday morning. Home delivery of essential items will be active. No shop, either the grocery store or vegetable market will be opened to maintain the social distancing. Only Health department officials and delivery boys of essential items will be allowed to step outside the house.
Mayanagri Mumbai is also set to extend the lockdown as the cases reached the count of 782 on Wednesday. Mumbai is now the epicenter of coronavirus in India. Maharashtra’s government made the mask mandatory for everybody. The lockdown is set to extend till April 30 in Maharashtra.
Odisha is also in favor of extending the lockdown till April 30. In Odisha, the school will be shut till June 17. CM Naveen Patnaik said that we can only choose one, either the economy or the lives of people. Saving the lives of the people is the priority. Odisha had only 42 positive cases of COVID-19 but, to maintain this control lockdown is necessary.
Social distancing is the only key to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, To maintain the social distance across the country, lockdown is important. Near 6000 coronavirus cases reported in India on Thursday. The count is increasing at a rapid rate. With the current situation in India, the lockdown should be extended to prevent the spread of coronavirus. Till now, no official statement is released by the government for extending the lockdown.
